Frances Cocagne's Studio
Life is work. My work is my life, an evolving composition, both delicate and complicated. Through painting and printmaking I search to answer the internal rhythms. The ebb and flow, of a song in a painting. There is great importance to me in finding both the sharp and flat line quality that carries the tune and tone of my images. Through the use and deep appreciation for chroma, repetition, structure, optic vibration, and harmony, I hope to create stunning works of art.
I think that both the visual arts and music provides a universal language, that together the instrument inside of a painting becomes a strong metaphor that all people can on some level relate to. Through out history both music and art have broken down the barriers and crossed many boundaries that I feel needed to expand.
Music also touches the essence of the dividing point in language where words become obsolete. Both music and art have the capability of moving the viewer or listeners soul. I hope my visual songs will resonate deeply with in others.
